Can anyone recommend a good streamer with external DAC as a music source that sounds very good ?

I only stream Internet Radio Stations and Tidal

Thank you and hello everyone this is my first post.

Hi Christian,

I use since two weeks a Pioneer N30AE modified LT by Massimo. For the moment I listen Tidal HIFI and a few cd I have ripped in waves or AIFF files. The difference is not important, Tidal is very very good, waves files are a little bit better but if you don't compare it seems to be the same. The Pioneer is very dynamic and transparent, the same as a CCI cd.

Thank you - I find this very interesting. I have a Grundig V1700 on its way and I am going to experiment using ideas on this forum as much as I can - I also own a pair of IMF Super Compact speakers.

I just need to get it right from the digital source - I am surprised that you have not used an external DAC on the N30AE LT to improve music even further (if there is such a thing as a CCI DAC).

What is your complete streamer based system please Guil ?

My system is: LT MA10TP integrated amplifier, Pioneer N30AE LT modified, Grundig 850a PRO on Bose stands.

Interesting system.

Have you ever thought about upgrading your Streamer more by adding a DAC ?

No I keep this configuration because I prefer to have a full CCI system and the result is "magnifique" !

OK thanks and interesting.

Do you use Grundig interconnects and special speaker cable? What equipment rack do you use?

I use a basic rca cable and Norstone CL150 for the speakers. The equipement is put on an old solid wood chest.

OK I didn't know if there was a rule of thumb when it comes to equipment support for a proper listen to CCI optimised equipment.

Massimo emailed me and recommended I first listen to an all Grundig system with my IMF Super Compact loudspeakers so I get a good idea as reference what I should be listening to.

So in preparation - I have a V1700 and IMF Super Compact loudspeakers - they qualify - I just need a Grundig CD player if I can find one for a complete system. But I also need 2x 5 metre pairs of the right speaker cable. I have a Hi-Fi rack with steel legs and bamboo wood shelves.

Once I experience the CCI sound I will understand it - but I must set the scene properly first. Massimo said no need for an external DAC.

Actually - will a Chromecast Audio qualify as good enough to replace a CCI optimized digital front end?

It's only a tiny small plastic device that will plug directly into the Grundig V1700. Surely the Chromecast Audio is too small and insignificant to worry about chassis optimization (it has no chassis). And I can power it with a battery.

Can be a good solution but ...i don't know it

I used the Chromecast for 3 years with V35, V20 and Receiver 30. The sound is very nice, it lacks dynamics and energy but it's consistent. When I plugged it into the MA10TP it was very bland and flat.

OK I will try and see - hopefully I will hear the Grundig sound in its full glory.

This is what I am hoping so I have evidence.

I only need the speaker cable now (I already have Grundig interconnects).
